“My Father Collected All The Money I Made While I Was Acting As A Child”- Pa James Son Samuel Speak On His Relationship With Saidi Balogun

Nigerian actor, writer, and filmmaker Samuel Ajirebi revealed how his father, veteran actor Ajirebi Kayode Olasehinde—widely known as Pa James from Papa Ajasco and Company—prioritized his education over his early acting career.

In an interview on Oyinmomo TV’s official YouTube channel, Ajirebi recounted how his father made firm decisions to keep him focused on his studies, even when filmmakers sought him for roles. Despite gaining recognition as a child actor, his father ensured that fame never disrupted his education.

“There were times when movie producers came to ask me to feature in their movies, but my dad would say no because I had exams ahead. And whenever they went behind my dad’s back to beg my mother, she would still agree with him and tell them I was unavailable because I had exams.”

Ajirebi recalled that his father constantly reminded him that childhood fame was temporary and should not define his future. Instead, he encouraged him to focus on building a strong educational background that could sustain him in life, regardless of what happened in the entertainment industry.

“Back then, my father warned me that all the fame I had as a child was just rehearsals and wouldn’t determine my future. He said there was still a long journey ahead for me, and I shouldn’t let my current success become a distraction in life. As a result, he insisted that I go to school, focus on my education, and become a better person.”

The actor expressed gratitude for the discipline and guidance he received from his parents. He noted that his mother fully supported his father’s decision to put education first, ensuring he had a solid foundation before fully committing to acting.

“I am happy for the type of parents I have. Whatever my dad said, my mom would also agree with him. They didn’t let my childhood success distract them from giving me a proper upbringing.”
