Afrobeats sensation David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, recently reflected on the stylish legacy of his late mother, Veronica Adeleke.
In an interview on The Breakfast Club aired on April 8, 2025, the award-winning artist—currently gearing up for the release of his fifth studio album 5ive—recalled a vivid memory that captured both his mother’s fashion-forward taste and the Adeleke family’s wealth.
Davido revealed that his mother may have been the very first person in the world to own a particular Chanel handbag in the 1980s.
In his own words:
“My mom was probably the first person in the world to get a certain Chanel bag in the 80s.”
This statement served to underscore the long-standing wealth and influence of his family.
Veronica Adeleke, who was a university lecturer, tragically passed away at the age of 39 following a heart attack. Despite her early passing, her legacy clearly lives on through Davido’s memories and music.
