Dr. Veronica Hailey Imade Adeleke was a Nigerian singer, doctor, and lecturer at Babcock University, and the mother of a prominent Nigerian Afro singer.
She gave birth to her son on November 21st, 1992, in Atlanta, Georgia, USA. The Adeleke family later returned to Nigeria.
The late Dr. Veronica was a passionate music lover, much like her son. In the 90s, she enjoyed a successful music career, owned a record label, and was a member of a band called “David’s Band.”
Additionally, she owned a security company named “David’s Security,” after her son.
Veronica Imade met Davido’s father, influential billionaire Adedeji Adeleke, in the 80s. They fell in love and got married, having two children together: David and Sharon.
Her husband, Mr. Adeleke, was a donor at Babcock University, where she was a well-respected lecturer. She was admired for her bright and loving nature.
Tragically, on March 6th, 2003, Veronica Imade passed away, which was also her husband Adedeji Adeleke’s 40th birthday. She was only 39 years old.
According to Urbanlife, on the morning of her passing, Veronica Adeleke attended a church service. When she returned home, she locked herself in a room. A few hours later, she was found dead in her apartment.
Her funeral was held shortly after her tragic death, and her band, “David’s Band,” performed at the service.
It is not surprising that her son chose to pursue a career in music and achieved great success.
He honored his late mother by naming his two daughters after her: Aurora Imade Adeleke (9 years old, born to Sophia Momodu) and Hailey Veronica Adeleke (7 years old, born to Amanda Brown).
