‘I never called Eniola Badmus childless, I only advice her to.’ – Laide Bakare spill

Filmmaker and political appointee Laide Bakare has opened up about the challenges behind her rise to power and her ongoing feud with fellow actress Eniola Badmus.

In a recent interview with media personality Seun Oloketuyi, Laide discussed her political ascent and the nature of her conflict with Eniola.

Earlier this year, her political career gained momentum when Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State appointed her as the Senior Special Assistant on Entertainment, Art, Culture, and Tourism.

The appointment, announced in February, received mixed reactions. While some saw it as a positive step for the state’s cultural sector, others questioned Laide’s qualifications for the position.

Laide shared how her relationship with Governor Adeleke flourished during a trip to the United States. She praised his warm personality and commitment to empowering the younger generation, crediting him for recognizing her potential.

However, as her political career progressed, her relationship with Eniola Badmus deteriorated.

What had once been a private feud between the two actresses became public after a heated confrontation.

Laide recalled a recent incident where Eniola accused her of making a hurtful comment, alleging that Laide had called her “childless.”

Visibly shaken by the accusation, Laide firmly denied ever making such a remark. She explained that her intention was to encourage Eniola to think about starting a family, not to offend or belittle her.

“I never called her childless,” she explained. “I simply suggested that she think about starting a family. It wasn’t meant to hurt her. I don’t mean getting married, just having kids of your own. Sometimes, my words are misunderstood, but my advice was genuine.”
