Veteran Nollywood actor Richard Mofe Damijo, popularly known as RMD, recently expressed that having a daughter is more valuable than having three sons.
This statement from RMD comes amid a common belief among many Africans that having a male child holds greater significance than a female child.
RMD shared his contrasting view, highlighting that having a daughter is even more fulfilling than having a son and offered a personal experience to support his perspective.
Using his biological father as an example, RMD utters that when his father was ill, his sister left her job to stay with him. The veteran actor added that his other sister also left the business she was doing to work do shifts with her, stressing that none of the boys left their business or work.
In his words; “When my father was ill, my sister left her job to stay with him. My other sister left her business to work shifts with her, None of us boys left our business or work.
Speaking further, RMD said that those men who complained of having only female children do not know what God has done for them noting that they have hit a jackpot and the complain is absolutely nothing but a foolish one.
RMD stated; “Yet you foolishly complain that you have only girls? you have hit a jackpot.
Discussing the importance of daughters over sons, RMD shared that daughters can help prolong a parent’s life, are less likely to get into trouble, and are generally more obedient than sons.
The veteran actor added that when a daughter leaves your house, she will always remember her parents, and when the parents are old, she will move them into her home, matrimonial or not.
RMD however, tells men who have only female children to stop complaining as he concluded that rather they should give thanks to God for having daughters.
In his words; “Each of your daughters is worth 3 sons! Having a daughter prolongs your life. She will not get into as much trouble as your sons.
“She is less likely to be disobedient. When she leaves your house, she will remember you. If you are too old to leave alone, she will move you into her home, matrimonial or not. Go and thank God for having daughters!”
