Veteran Nollywood actor, Akande Jimmy Rolland, has opened up about the struggles and challenges he has faced in both his marriage and personal life.
Sharing one of his past experiences, the actor spoke about a woman he dated for four years. Despite his deep affection for her, each time he said “I love you,” she would simply respond with “thank you.”
Throughout the entire four-year relationship, he never touched her intimately, as she claimed to be a virgin—and he respected that. Eventually, he went ahead with their traditional introduction ceremony, believing that, as her husband-to-be, intimacy would be allowed. However, she stood her ground, insisting that there would be no intimacy until after their wedding.
Six months later, we planned to have an elaborate wedding, but her mother was against the idea and said no. I also ended up saying no.
On our wedding night, I discovered she wasn’t a virgin. All the friends I had proudly told about her virginity—well, maybe after hearing this interview, they’ll finally realize that I had lied to them, because I never told anyone the truth.
The relationship eventually produced two beautiful children, and despite everything, I chose to stand by her and was determined to make it work. But in the end, it turned out to be a painful and difficult journey.
As I speak right now, she has absconded with our two children, and to this day, I have no idea where they are.
At one point, the pain and constant worry over the love I have for my kids became too much to bear, and it eventually led me to suffer a stroke that I battled with for years.
