Nigerian actor and producer Timini Egbuson is putting in the work to promote his upcoming film, Reel Love, set to hit theaters nationwide on February 14. In preparation for the release, he has been actively engaged in promotional activities.
This week, Timini attended the film’s star-studded premiere, which saw the presence of top celebrities, including Bimbo Ademoye, his sister Dakore Akande, Funke Akindele, and more.
One of the most memorable moments of the night was when Timini went down on his knees, seeking blessings from reigning box office queen Funke Akindele. His request came shortly after her latest film, Everybody Loves Jenifa, shattered box office records. Here’s how the moment unfolded and what Funke Akindele had to say.
After Timini Egbuson got on his knees and said to Funke Akindele “Box office queen, box office queen ha! In fact, please let me kneel down for you. I want the prayer, I want the prayer. Give me the prayer please!” Funke laughed and responded to Timini saying:
FUNKE AKINDELE: Timini stop it! Get up. It’s a sold out already.
She then turned to the audience and said:
FUNKE AKINDELE: Good evening, everyone. I must say this is a proud moment for me. Watching this film, smiling, clapping, shouting all through. For my son, my brother, my friend, Timini Egbuson, it’s truly a proud moment for me. I wanna say something quickly. Go and write it down. Kayode Kasum is the best director. Go and write it down, Kayode Kasum is the best director. Go and write it. Check out the lighting in this film. Check out the shots, the angles. The art director. Well done! Well done, well done, well done. Please go out to watch Reel Love. Support my boo, my friend, my brother that left his home to support Everybody Loves Jenifa. This film must sold out oh!
Here is the moment as captured on video:
