Paul Scholes, the Manchester United legend, has criticized the performances of Casemiro and Christian Eriksen during the Red Devils’ recent 4-0 defeat to Crystal Palace.
Scholes questioned their suitability for the English Premier League team, citing their lackluster display in the match.
He emphasized their struggles against Crystal Palace, who secured victory with goals from Michael Olise and Jean-Philippe Mateta.
As per reports from HITC, Scholes specifically criticized Casemiro’s struggles against Olise and raised doubts about Eriksen’s compatibility with a club like United, pointing out what he perceived as a lack of physical presence in midfield.
Scholes commented, “When you think of players like Casemiro, who have been exceptional over the years, it’s hard to see him struggle like that. He seemed to be on the ground more often than not.”
Players such as Christian Eriksen no longer embody the physical presence required in midfield. They might not suit a club of this caliber.
In response to comments made by Jose Mourinho about managerial support at Manchester United, current manager Erik ten Hag disputed Mourinho’s assertions.
Ten Hag clarified that Mourinho was the only manager since Sir Alex Ferguson to have full control over player signings. He stressed the importance of constructing a squad aligned with the manager’s vision and expressed confidence despite Premier League competition.
