Despite intense interest from Spanish champions, Ilkay Gundogan is “set to snub a move to Barcelona and commit his future to Man City.” with the German midfielder ‘will be offered a new long-term agreement’ at the Etihad
The summer saw rumors of the German international leaving the Etihad, with Spanish powerhouse Barcelona leading the chase to recruit him.
In advance of his anticipated free transfer to Barcelona in the summer, Gundogan reportedly received a two-year deal from Barcelona with the possibility of an additional year.
Pep Guardiola had earlier stated he was uncertain of Gundogan’s choice.
Gundogan has played 48 times across all competitions this season and scored nine goals, four of which have come in recent weeks, including key hat tricks in victories over Leeds and Everton (3-0 and 2-1, respectively).
Nobody knows what will happen, but hopefully he will stay, the City manager remarked. He can consistently demonstrate his value, quality, and dedication to the club, to all of us.
Not just scoring goals, but also gaining momentum. He played against Leeds and again (against Everton). He is capable of doing anything and doing it well. Even though he doesn’t speak up often, when he does, everyone pays attention.
He comes to every training session on time, works hard and plays hard, demonstrating his leadership qualities. He is incredibly intelligent and a good pressure handler.
On Saturday night, City officially won the Premier League after Arsenal’s loss to Nottingham Forest made it impossible for the league leaders to be overtaken.
In the summer, Xavi, the manager of Barcelona, was in the lead in the competition to recruit Gundogan for nothing.
To assist the Club win the Premier League for a third straight year is something incredibly meaningful, according to Gundogan.
This performance is all the more impressive given that the Premier competition is without a doubt the most challenging and competitive competition in the world. Being captain this season has been a tremendous honor since this team is so skilled and unique.
I also want to express my gratitude to Pep, the entire backroom staff, and everyone else who works for this football club. They assist in giving us players all we require on a daily basis so that we may try to succeed. Without all of their help, there is no way we could have taken home this trophy.
