Popular Nigerian singer Rema has stirred reactions online after a new clip surfaced showing his response to winning Album of the Year at the 17th Headies Awards.
The event took place last night, April 27th, 2025, at the Landmark Event Centre, attracting top celebrities from Nigeria and across Africa. Although Rema was not present at the ceremony, he clinched the Afrobeats Album of the Year award for his masterpiece project, HEIS.
Additionally, producer London won Producer of the Year for the track “Ozeba” off the HEIS album.
While hanging out with friends, Rema was informed by someone streaming the Headies Awards that he had won Album of the Year. Reacting to the news, Rema said, “Oh, that shit is crazy.”
In the video, Rema explained that although he was well aware of the Headies Awards, he couldn’t attend. He also expressed his happiness for producer London, who won Producer of the Year for his work on the HEIS album.
Showing his gratitude, Rema thanked his fans and the Headies organizers for the honor.
However, the development has sparked mixed reactions online, with some critics claiming that Rema would have made an effort to attend if it had been a Grammy nomination, regardless of whether he won or not.
