Veteran Yoruba film actor Ebun Oloyede, popularly known by his stage name Olaiya Igwe, has opened up about one of the biggest regrets of his life—an incident involving renowned gospel singer Tope Alabi.
In a candid conversation on the Kasnastysugar1 YouTube channel, the actor revealed that he once denied Tope Alabi the use of his car for her wedding, a decision he has deeply regretted ever since.
Oloyede shared his remorse over the incident, stating, “One of my biggest regrets in life is that I refused to borrow Tope Alabi my car for her wedding. Every time I see Tope Alabi, I always apologize to her because I know what I did was wrong.”
The actor’s decision to withhold his car from Alabi was driven by his fear that it might be stolen by armed robbers during the wedding festivities. However, in a cruel twist of fate, Oloyede himself became a victim of car theft just a week after denying Alabi’s request.
Recounting the terrifying ordeal, Oloyede shared that he was on a trip to Ibadan with his wife and children when they were ambushed by armed gunmen. The attackers viciously assaulted his wife, forced his children out of the vehicle, and then took him to a prayer ground.
“I was travelling to Ibadan with my wife and children, and the gunmen beat my wife and asked my children to come down from the car,” Oloyede shared, his voice filled with emotion. “I was taken to a prayer ground, and they started asking me if I had enough fuel in the car, and they took the car away from there.”
