Wunmi Aloba, the widow of the late Nigerian singer Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, known professionally as Mohbad, has now agreed to a DNA test for her son, Liam, one year after the singer’s passing.
Earlier this year, during an Instagram live session, Wunmi made headlines when she firmly stated that she would never take a DNA test, emphasizing that Mohbad was the one who took her virginity.
In her words; “I will never do any DNA test, no one can tell me to do DNA on my son Liam, Mohbad was the one who Disvirgined Me, and I have never slept with any Man other man in my entire life except Mohbad.”
In a recently surfaced video, Wunmi’s lawyer, Barrister Akingbolu, revealed that she has now agreed to the long-debated DNA test for her son, Liam. This test aims to confirm to her father-in-law, Mr. Joseph Aloba, and others that Liam is indeed Mohbad’s son.
Barrister Akingbolu explained that Wunmi’s initial reluctance, despite agreeing earlier, stemmed from the intense pressure she faced after her husband’s death—persistent demands from Mr. Aloba and criticism from online voices who, he said, used her grief as a weapon.
Akingbolu also made serious claims against Mr. Aloba, accusing him of using the media to carry out a smear campaign against his own daughter-in-law and grandson.
He added that Wunmi’s decision to proceed with the DNA test—without any court order—is more than just compliance; it’s a stand for her son’s dignity and her late husband’s legacy.
