Islamic cleric Abu Sufyaan criticizes actor Lateef Adedimeji for acting like a woman
Recently Abu Sufyaan, an Islamic cleric, sparked a contentious debate on social media by criticizing popular Nollywood actor Lateef Adedimeji for his portrayal of female characters in movies.
Lateef Adedimeji, a highly skilled actor renowned for his diverse roles in Nigerian films, has received widespread acclaim for his exceptional performances, including his portrayal of the character ‘Iya Peju,’ a female role. His talent in effectively depicting such roles has earned him admiration and recognition from both fans and colleagues within the entertainment industry.
Nonetheless, Abu Sufyaan took to social media to express his disapproval of actors taking on cross-gender roles in the film industry.
During a sermon, Abu Sufyaan expressed his concerns about the portrayal of men acting as women in movies, deeming it “forbidden by God and the Prophet Muhammad(S.A.W).” He argued that such depictions were in violation of Gods teachings and islamic rule.
Part his words, “Recently he has turn himself into a woman, all the sufism call actor Lateef Adedimeji to other, lecture him with words of God.”
