Renowned Yoruba actor Amuda Eko has opened up about some of the experiences he shared with the late actor Murphy Afolabi, who was also his employer at the time. He also recounted a terrifying incident where he narrowly escaped death after being ambushed by three unidentified gunmen while traveling to a filming location.
During an interview on Kunleafod TV’s official YouTube channel, Amuda Eko revealed that he and Murphy Afolabi were attacked by unknown assailants. He recalled being struck on the head three times with a stick, adding that the attackers killed three people during the assault.
In his statement, he said, “We were on our way to a movie set in the morning when we noticed that a car was following us closely as we drove to our destination. When we got to the hotel we were supposed to use for the movie set, we stopped, and the car also packed behind us. They brought out their guns and ordered us to remain silent, and when they saw our faces, they said they didn’t know we were actors. I and Murphy were attacked by gunmen, I was hit in the head 3 times, and they killed 3 people. They asked me and Murphy to bring out money, but we didn’t have any more with us, and they threatened to kill us.
One of our crew members stood up and ran away, so one of the gunmen became very angry, and he wanted to kill me. One of them quickly came and told him not to kill me and he told him that I’m a popular Yoruba actor.”
