Veteran Yoruba Nollywood actress Yetunde Ogunsola has shared a deeply personal story about a difficult decision she once had to make for the sake of her career.
In a recent interview on Kunle Afod’s official YouTube channel, Ogunsola recounted how she left her ailing father in the hospital to embark on a film tour with her late husband, Chief Timothy Ishola Ogunsola, popularly known as “I Sho Pepper.”
She revealed that her father had fallen seriously ill, prompting her uncle, a vice-chancellor at the time, to take him to the University College Hospital (UCH) in Ibadan for treatment. However, just a day after his admission, she was called upon for a movie tour. As a key member of the technical team responsible for showcasing the film, her presence was crucial.
Torn between staying by her father’s side and fulfilling her professional duty, she ultimately chose to honor her work commitment. Despite the emotional burden, she traveled with her husband, entrusting her father’s care to the hospital staff. The tour lasted over a week, during which she remained dedicated to her responsibilities.
In her words; “There was a time my father was very sick. He was so ill that his brother had to come and take him from our house to the University College Hospital (UCH) in Ibadan. His brother was the vice-chancellor at that time. A day after he was admitted, I Sho Pepper called us for a movie tour. For this tour, I was one of the most important people needed because I was the one supposed to handle the machine to display the movie. There was nothing I could do, so I left my sick father at the hospital and went on the movie tour with my husband, I Sho Pepper. After a week on the tour, I was about to go to the river to wash my baby clothes when I was called and informed that my father had passed away.”
