Nollywood actress and box office queen Funke Akindele has been left overwhelmed and speechless by the outpouring of love and support from her fans and admirers.

Her film Everybody Loves Jenifa recently became the highest-grossing film in West Africa, raking in an impressive 1.6 billion naira. Announcing the milestone on her Instagram page, the director revealed that she had surpassed her own previous record.

An emotional Funke admitted she was at a loss for words, expressing heartfelt gratitude to her millions of fans and supporters while giving credit to God for making it all possible.

“Na God do am o!!!!
I am so grateful to you all!!!!
I no know Wetin I go write again!!!”.

The fact that Funke Akindele is Africa’s box office queen is no longer news. She became the first Nigerian director to earn over N1.4 billion at the box office in January of last year with her 2023 feature, A Tr!be Called Judah. Given that Funke is among the most diligent women in Nollywood, many were not surprised. The highest-grossing Nollywood films ever are her flicks from the last three years: Omo Ghetto The Saga, Battle On Buka Street, and A Tr!be Called Judah.
