Popular Nollywood actress Opeyemi Aiyeola has announced that she will no longer proceed with her planned charity giveaway, citing concerns about potential risks following the arrest of Olori Naomi and Hamzat Oriyomi.
During a live Instagram session, Aiyeola reacted to the tragic stampede at a charity funfair organized by Olori Naomi and Oriyomi, which claimed 35 lives. The incident has led to their detention as investigations are ongoing.
In an emotional video, the actress expressed her fears about the dangers associated with public charity events.
She said: “I am no longer doing giveaways. I am done. I have family members that need help. I will do my giveaway with them. If helping people will land someone in prison, I am out. People should learn from the case of Alhaji Hamzat Oriyomi and The Queen Naomi.”
She further cited concerns about superstitious rumours from those who may tie the Ibadan Stampede tragedy as an intentional ritualistic rite.
Aiyeola’s stance reflects growing concerns within the entertainment industry about the challenges and responsibilities of giving back to the community.
