Veteran Yoruba actress Dupe Jayesimi has revealed one of the reasons she stepped away from the Yoruba film industry, citing the impact of her father’s passing on her career.
In an interview with Kunle Afod on the official YouTube channel of Kunleafod TV, the actress shared that she stopped acting after her father’s death.
She explained that her father had promised to give her two million naira to produce her own movie, but his untimely demise halted those plans.
In her statement, she said, “My father did not support my film making job initially, and he did not talk to me for 5 years. Whenever he comes to my grandma’s house, he doesn’t answer when I greet him, he will look at me and go back to his house. After 5 years, he started watching some of my movies, and he noticed that I’m very decent in my dressing, and that was when he started accepting my job. I stopped film making after my dad died when he promised to give me 2 million naira for my movie.
