Chief Munir Balogun, the proud father of Afrobeats star Wizkid (Ayodeji Balogun), has courageously addressed the growing rivalry between his son and fellow artist Davido.
In an insightful interview with Punch Newspapers, Chief Balogun shared his thoughts on the rising tension between the two music icons and the emotions involved.
With a firm stance, Chief Balogun emphasized the seriousness of the situation, urging resilience in the face of fan rivalries and public criticism. He revealed that he advised Wizkid to ignore attacks from Davido’s fans, explaining that their goal is often to incite conflict rather than celebrate the music.
His words;
“I told my son that he shouldn’t look or listen to whatever the boys who are supporters of Davido are saying. The supporters are only looking for what they will say to collect money and all of that.”
Chief Balogun highlighted that engaging with these distractions would only pull Wizkid away from his focus and weaken the artistry that has built his strong international following.
“They are just looking for what they are going to eat and I told him not to pay much attention to them,” he added.
