Popular Yoruba comedy actor Saliu Gbolagade has shared a touching story about how an apprentice’s unexpected act of kindness changed his life.
In an interview on Kunleafod’s YouTube channel, Gbolagade spoke about his close bond with his apprentice, Aliu Gafar, who gained fame for his role as Esusu in the Nollywood hit movie Seven Doors.
He revealed that beyond his talent, Aliu had blessed him with numerous benefits that had a profound impact on his life.
Recalling a particular incident, Gbolagade shared that he had borrowed ₦300,000 from Aliu to finance a movie shoot. Later, when Aliu requested repayment, Gbolagade initially felt upset, thinking his apprentice was trying to embarrass him. However, he soon realized that Aliu had a completely different intention.
Speaking on the situation, Gbolagade shared:
“I received a lot of blessings which I never expected from Aliu Gafar. I remember a time where I was owing him about N300,000 which I used for shooting a movie. After a while, he asked for his money which I tried explaining to him that I should give me a little time because I want to pay for another movie shoot.”
“He refused and forced me to pay him his money. At first, I thought he wanted to embarrass me because I was just owing a little money, not knowing that he was trying to bless me in disguise. After paying him the money, Aliu Gafar used the 300,000 naira to make an initial deposit for a land.”
“After some days, he surprised me with a receipt of the land saying that he decided to surprise me and gift me the land, which I’m to pay the balance whenever I have it. I can never forget Aliu Gafar’s impact in my life because he made me build a house.”
