Nollywood actor Kevin Ikeduba shared some insights when asked about the prevalence of exchanging sex for roles in the movie industry.
During the interview, the host asked whether he believed that “sex for roles” is a genuine issue or just a topic for internet views.
Kevin responded by saying that he has directed several movies and noted that the movie and entertainment industry is very large; what works for one person might not work for another.
Kevin emphasized, “The Kevin that people know—everyone knows—would rather die than ask for sex in exchange for giving a girl a role, because I am very passionate about what I do.
When I encounter those who don’t know how to act on set or aren’t doing what they’re supposed to, I would never ask for sex for a role.
In the history of Nollywood, there are people who engage in that behavior. It has existed, it is there, and it will continue to be there.”
Sometimes, I don’t blame the actors who say they need sex for roles because, often, it’s the girls who offer themselves to them.
However, whether you’re offering or accepting, you should ask yourself if you are truly qualified to act, instead of spreading lies that someone else got popular through such means.
