Grammy Award-Winner Damini Ebunoluwa Ogulu, professionally known as Burna Boy, has sparked online conversations after his recent onstage statement regarding the famous “Big 3.”
In the Nigerian music scene, the “Big 3” typically refers to Wizkid, Davido, and Burna Boy due to their significant achievements as Afrobeats artists on the global stage.
Addressing the trending topic of the Big 3 among music enthusiasts in Nigeria, Burna Boy, during a recent performance, challenged the widely accepted notion, asserting that he does not consider himself part of the so-called Big 3.
He went on to mention that in his view, there exist only two significant figures: Wizkid and Davido, with himself not included.
Expanding on his stance, Burna Boy expressed that following these two individuals, there stands “Burna” – suggesting he operates on a distinct level, separate from Wizkid and Davido. He emphasized that music enthusiasts should refrain from dragging him into unnecessary competition with these so-called “big 2.”
Burna Boy said; “Next time anybody tells you about anything called the ‘big 3’, tell them there’s only the ‘big 2’ and then, there’s Burna Boy.”
