Renowned Afrobeats star David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has finally opened up about his relationship with Tiwa Savage during a recent interview on ‘The Breakfast Club.’
Speaking openly, Davido downplayed their past disagreements, describing them as minor issues and comparing their relationship to that of siblings.
He also reassured fans that he still holds deep affection for Tiwa and her son, Jamil, whom he considers family.
In his words, “We used to stay in the same house. The situation with Tiwa was personal; she was a good friend to Sophia Momodu. Tiwa Savage is my sister for life. She changed the game for females. I love her and her child, we are family. Our fight is just like a brother and sister’s fight. She did reach out. I will never allow anything to happen to her.”
In January 2024, a public dispute emerged between Nigerian musicians Tiwa Savage and Davido. The conflict began when Tiwa Savage posted a photo on her Instagram Story featuring herself with Sophia Momodu, the mother of one of Davido’s children. Davido reportedly perceived this post as a taunt and responded with messages that Tiwa described as “disrespectful, malicious, and derogatory.” She further alleged that Davido warned her to “be careful in Lagos,” which she interpreted as a threat to her safety.
Following the incident, Tiwa Savage submitted a petition to the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, citing concerns for her safety and urging authorities to hold Davido accountable should anything happen to her.
The situation quickly gained public attention after both artists unfollowed each other on Instagram, fueling widespread speculation about their fallout.
