Jennifer Odonwodo, the wife of the late Nollywood actor Junior Pope Odonwodo, has opened up about the struggles she has endured since his passing.
The elegant mother of three boys poured out her heart in a touching post on her official Instagram page, marking the first anniversary of her husband’s death.
Alongside emotional photos of herself and her sons, Jennifer reflected on the pain of living through a year filled with grief. She revealed that not a single day had gone by without thinking of Junior Pope, describing the past year as one of standing strong amid unimaginable loss.
She confessed that the journey has been incredibly difficult, as she and her children tried to remain strong for one another, even while their world felt like it was falling apart. The weight of grief, she said, is still overwhelming, and his absence has created a void that words could never truly express. Yet, in the midst of it all, she continues to look to heaven for strength, holding on to his memory as a source of light and guidance.
Jennifer also shared the emotional challenge of responding to her sons, Jason and Jaden, who still ask if their father will keep his promise of enrolling them in a proper football academy and attending their first official match. They reminded her of how he once said he wouldn’t miss that moment for anything in the world.
Meanwhile, the youngest, Jamon — affectionately called “J Papa” by his dad — continued to ask when Daddy would bring the big toy car he had promised.
She extended her heartfelt appreciation to everyone who had reached out, stood by them, and continued to support them in their time of grief. No words, they said, could truly capture how grateful they were for the love and support shown to their family.
She wrote, “It’s been one year of standing in the face of our unimaginable loss, and not a day has gone by without a thought of you.
Your love still surrounds us, your laughter echoes in our hearts, and your presence is felt in the quiet moments when we miss you most.”
You have no idea how tough it’s been, trying to stay strong for each other even as the world around us seems fallen apart. The grief remains heavy, the absence left a void that words can never fill, but through it all, we look up for strength from heaven as a guiding light.
Oh death, you have taught us to live each day as it comes, one step at a time bearing such extreme pain that can never go away.
I still don’t have the right words to respond to Jason and Jaden wanting to know if Daddy will fulfill his promise of taking them to a proper football academy and be present at their first official match. They said ;, “Daddy told them he wouldn’t miss it for anything in the world”. Then the littlest one (J papa as fondly called by daddy) Jamon, keeps asking when daddy is bringing the big toy car he promised him
