In a recent interview, Kunle Ayanlawo, a drummer who dedicated 32 years to working alongside Fuji maestro K1 De Ultimate, shared insights into his journey with the renowned singer.

During the interview, Ayanlawo emphasized the challenging working conditions endured by musicians under K1 De Ultimate’s employ, likening their treatment to that of slaves.

Expanding on his experience, drummer Kunle Ayanlowo revealed that during his tenure with K1 De Ultimate, all employees, including himself, were required to surrender their passports. These passports would then be collected and returned to them only upon their arrival at Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos.

He recounted that during his tenure with K1 De Ultimate from 1990 to 2022, he had to surrender three passports, as was customary for all employees.

Furthermore, he emphasized that leaving employment with K1 De Ultimate was virtually impossible, except in cases of death.

Recounting a personal experience, the drummer shared a time when he was battling a severe case of cancer and the driver was taking him to see a doctor. However, K1 De Ultimate encountered them on their way and instructed the driver to return home.

Even to this day, he continues to struggle with the effects of cancer, expressing that if anything were to happen to him, he holds K1 De Ultimate responsible.
