Speaking with musician Falz, she recalled how she defied her father’s expectations for her future. Her father had envisioned a more conventional career path for her, but she was determined to follow her passion for entertainment. Despite facing resistance, Akindele pursued her dreams, ultimately becoming one of Nollywood’s most celebrated actresses and filmmakers.

“I was very rebellious when I was younger; it was my mother who encouraged me to be a successful actress,” Akindele shared. Her father had envisioned a different path for his daughter—one as a lawyer—but she firmly rejected that notion to pursue acting instead. “My dad wanted me to be a lawyer, but I refused and I chose to be an actress,” she noted.
Despite the challenges posed by her choice, including familial pressures and societal expectations, Akindele found solace in her passion for film.
