Nollywood actress Iyabo Ojo has opened up about the challenges of her early years in a candid interview.
Speaking with her colleague Biola Bayo on the talk show Talk to B, Iyabo revealed that she had been raped five times. She also stated that if her son were ever accused of rape, she would unapologetically stand by him, emphasizing the prevalence of rape apologists in society.
During the interview, Iyabo shared more personal details, recounting how her father disowned her when she insisted on marrying her late husband. She also revealed the impact of her father’s struggles with drug and alcohol addiction, which ultimately led to his death at the age of 40. Raised by her grandmother, Iyabo said she didn’t meet her mother until she was around seven years old.
“I was raped five times in my life. I discovered we have a lot of rape apologists. I don’t care who the person is; if that person is my son, I am going to come for him unapologetically.
I have never met Naira Marley before my entire life. The only time I lacked was when I insisted this was the man I was going to get married to because, at that time, my dad and I disowned each other.
My dad did everything, alcohol and drugs, so it messed him up at a young age. He died at 40.
I grew up with my grandmother, who is half Delta and half Igbo. I think I was seven before I knew my mother”.

Iyabo Ojo recounted how people called her all manner of names because of her failed marriage both in the movie industry and the world at large.
