Nollywood actress Wumi Toriola opened up about the story behind her scar, which served as the inspiration for her latest film production, Queen Lateefah.
In a lengthy Instagram post, Wumi shared how she had a severe fall in her room, resulting in broken wrists and a leg injury, accompanied by photos of her injuries.
She recalled how her son was crying uncontrollably, as the nanny was on break and no one else was home to help. Wumi explained that her determination to complete Queen Lateefah was what drove her, despite the challenges she faced.
She said the strength came with so much pain as she also broke her kneels and she didn’t know how she would resume location. But through it all, she learned that a scar is a sign of strength.

I was ready for my cinema debut “Queen Lateefah”
The costumier was ready, the team were ready and just two days to shoot, I had this heavy slip in my room, I fell soooo heavy. I was just with my son, my Nanny had gone for a break, and I couldn’t stand, my little boy was screaming, but I was so strong at heart. At first, I thought I wouldn’t be able to stand, but somehow, “the dream of so many years, my Quest of having this movie “Queen Lateefah shot, was my motivation.
The strength came with so much pain that I broke my kneels too, and I didn’t know how I would resume the location.
But after a hospital visit, with so much pain, I got better; I couldn’t walk well.
We resumed location as everything was already put together for the said date; my hands were still bleeding under the band-aid.
I couldn’t afford to bleed inside by not bringing a story to life.
I went all out, the costumier had to run to and fro to look for a way my scar wouldn’t show as it was still very fresh.
But through it all, I learned that “A scar is a sign of Strength; just so you know, A STAR, not a SCAR.
