Nollywood actress and filmmaker Mercy Aigbe Adeoti has addressed criticism surrounding her marriage to Kazim Adeoti.
In an interview with her colleague Bimpe Akintunde on her talk show, Iriri Mi, Mercy shared her thoughts on accusations that she has turned her husband, a father of four, into a moron. She expressed indifference toward the negative remarks, emphasizing that such opinions hold no significance in her life.
According to Aigbe, people only talk about those who are successful or well-known. She noted that being the subject of discussion often means one is excelling, as prominence naturally attracts attention.
That’s just noise. Look close at those talking. How is their life? Definitely, people talk, and it’s when people do something good that they talk. If you’re not known, you can’t be their topic. You have to be at the top to be a topic. When I was young, I never thought my life would turn out this way. “
Elsewhere in the interview, Aigbe revealed that her family were against her remarriage, especially due to her age. However, she didn’t bow to them because she knew what she wanted. Mercy said she is the kind of person who loves to have a crown on her head and loves to be married.
“I love love, actually.
What you said now, a lot of people do ask me, even some family members. They would be like, I’m close to 50 years old; what am I looking for? But I believe everybody knows what they want. What you want might be different from mine. I know what I saw, and I know what I wanted. I am the kind of person who loves to have a crown (husband) on my head and loves to be married. Maybe, if I’m still in my baby’s daddy’s house, I wouldn’t be known as Mercy Aigbe”.
