Veteran Nigerian singer, Onyeka Onwenu, reportedly collapsed and passed away after performing at an event in Lagos.
The tragic incident occurred on Tuesday, July 30th, at Reddington Hospital in Lagos.
She had been attending a birthday party where she performed on stage but suddenly collapsed after returning to her seat.
Despite being rushed to the hospital, she was pronounced dead. The cause of death has not been confirmed.
Onyeka Onwenu had a remarkable career spanning over 40 years, excelling as a singer, songwriter, actress, journalist, and politician.
Her first album, released in 1984, made her famous with hits like “One Love,” “Iyogogo,” and “Ekwe,” leaving behind a lasting legacy in the music industry.
