Nigerian artist Portable has called on controversial crossdresser Idris Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky, to rethink his actions and “repent from his sinful ways.”
Portable’s remarks come amidst Bobrisky’s ongoing legal and personal struggles.
Having been released from prison on August 5 after serving part of a six-month sentence, which began on April 12 for his involvement in the misuse of the Nigerian currency, Bobrisky now faces further allegations.
According to TORI, the situation escalated when social media influencer Martin Otse, also known as VeryDarkMan, shared an alleged audio recording in which Bobrisky reportedly claimed to have bribed Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) officials with ₦15 million to dismiss charges against him.
Bobrisky, a prominent transgender figure on social media, has denied the allegations, calling the audio “fake” and insisting he did not engage in bribery, stating, “I served my term in prison.”
In response to the bribery claims, the EFCC has summoned both Bobrisky and Otse for questioning, with the agency’s chairman, Ola Olukoyede, launching a full investigation.
The Nigerian government has also taken swift action, suspending two Nigerian Correctional Service officers implicated in the controversy.
Adding to the complexity, rapper Falz has supported part of Otse’s claims in a letter to the activist, alleging that Bobrisky requested ₦3 million from him for preferential treatment during his incarceration—a request Falz declined.
Amidst these legal battles, Bobrisky revealed he has been struggling with suicidal thoughts, though he clarified that he is not seeking sympathy, but rather understanding during this difficult time.
In response, Portable took to Instagram to advise Bobrisky against such thoughts, urging him instead to seek repentance and divine forgiveness, which he believes could lead to a transformative change in his life.
“Help me tell Bobrisky to ask God for forgiveness. All Bobrisky needs is to ask God for forgiveness of sin. What Bobrisky is facing now, if he repents, he will enjoy the world. But if he does not repent.”
