Ilerioluwa Aloba, commonly known as Mohbad, a young artist, has sadly passed away. Mrs. Funmi Falana, the wife of Mr. Femi Falana (SAN), expressed hope on Friday that justice will prevail in her husband’s untimely demise.

The musician tragically left us on September 12 at the age of 27.

The unexpected loss of Mohbad has stirred controversy, prompting the Lagos State Government to initiate a coroner’s investigation into the circumstances surrounding his demise.

At the courthouse on Friday, a preliminary conversation regarding this probe was held.

A human rights activist and the family’s legal representative, Mrs. Falana, the mother of rapper Falz, told journalists that the meeting was to discuss the technicalities of the inquest, such as the witnesses to be presented to the court.

She added that the coroner’s inquest would do everything within its capacity to get to the root of Mohbad’s death.

Speaking in an interview with The PUNCH, she said,

“The sitting today was just a preliminary one to discuss the modalities and procedure, as well as how to go about it. It is just a corona’s inquest, and not a formal court hearing.

“The expectation is that justice will be served. We would get to the root of the cause of Mohbad’s death. That is the reason we are there, and we are fully confident that we would get justice.”

Meanwhile, October 13, 2023, has been fixed for witnesses in the case to appear at the inquest. However, journalists were barred from witnessing the proceedings, allegedly on the orders of the Chief Magistrate, Tajudeen Elias.

Falana, however, stated that the identities of the witnesses that would be presented before the court could not be revealed until they appeared before the court.
