The Real reason Damola Olatunji’s decided not to legalize his marriage with Bukola Arugba

After the recent separation of popular Nollywood actress Bukola Awoyemi, also known as Bukola Arugba, from her partner Damola Olatunji, who is the father of their twins, many have questioned why they never officially tied the knot despite being together for a significant period.

It is worth mentioning that Bukola Arugba was believed to have “snatched” Damola Olatunji, also a well-known actor in Nollywood, from his legally married wife, Raliat Abiodun-Olatunji.

Bukola Arugba never openly admitted to causing distress to Raliat Abiodun Olatunji. Not only did she disrupt Raliat’s marriage, but she also took Raliat’s husband, Damola, for herself.

On April 8, 2013, Damola Olatunji legally married Raliat at the Ikoyi registry, followed by a traditional wedding ceremony. However, their marriage crumbled before their first anniversary in 2014, with Raliat accusing Damola of infidelity. Raliat, who resided in the United Kingdom at the time, publicly exposed the romantic involvement between Damola Olatunji and actress Bukky Awoyemi, also known as Arugba.

In 2014, Bukola Arugba and Damola Olatunji found themselves in the midst of a media storm. Rumors began to circulate that they were involved romantically while Damola was still married to Raliat. Raliat had returned to the United Kingdom after their wedding to assist her husband in obtaining a UK Visa. Unaware of the alleged affair, she initially dismissed the reports.

However, upon her unexpected return to their home in Lagos’ Ajao Estate, Raliat was devastated to discover that Bukola Arugba had disrupted their marital bliss. She found their home in disarray and her husband was nowhere to be found. Raliat attempted to reach Damola by phone, but his line was switched off.

As days passed without any sign of her husband, Raliat sought information from their neighbors, who informed her that Bukola Arugba had taken over her husband’s life and was even expecting his child. Despite Damola’s denial and dismissal of these claims as mere rumors, Raliat’s marriage eventually collapsed.

Bukola Arugba gave birth to a set of twins, a boy and a girl, on January 3, 2015. Meanwhile, due to Bukola’s late mother’s strong Christian beliefs, they opted for a low-key introduction ceremony to gradually formalize their union.

To this day, Damola’s first wife has not consented to a divorce. Kemi Ashefon’s investigation revealed that Raliat has moved on and is currently dating a wealthy Nigerian individual who owns a record label in Lagos.
