Famous Nollywood actress Nancy Isime recently sparked strong reactions on social media during an interview where she discussed why her brand is a significant force in the Nigerian entertainment industry.
Nancy, who made headlines weeks ago for wearing a niqab as a costume in an upcoming movie, appeared as a guest on the podcast “Creativity Live With Lynda.” She spoke about her drive for excellence and other aspects of her career.
In the interview, Nancy shared that, unlike many young women who view marriage as a way out of poverty, her dream was always focused on working hard and making her own money.
Nancy Isime expressed her deep commitment to her craft, stating that she wouldn’t hesitate to walk away from anyone or any job that treats her poorly. She emphasized her self-worth, declaring herself both “the prize” and “the source,” highlighting her independence and confidence.
Offering advice to newcomers in Nollywood, Nancy pointed out that the industry comes with a lot of online trolling. She made it clear that no one can enter Nollywood and expect to avoid criticism, unless they’re not serious about the industry.
Nancy also praised her senior colleagues, including Genevieve Nnaji, Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde, Mercy Johnson, Rita Dominic, and others. She concluded by noting that many creatives today lack the spirit of excellence, focusing solely on collecting a paycheck rather than delivering quality work.
