Veteran Nollywood actor Amaechi Muonagor dies at 62

At 62 years old, the esteemed veteran Nollywood actor Amaechi Muonagor has tragically passed away, succumbing to renal failure.

Renowned for his memorable performances in numerous motion pictures, Muonagor’s untimely demise has left a profound impact on the entertainment industry and beyond.

The news of Muonagor’s passing has sent shockwaves throughout the community, especially following the circulation of a recent viral video online. In the video, a family member can be seen making a heartfelt plea for financial assistance to support the actor’s urgent need for a kidney transplant. The juxtaposition of this plea with the subsequent news of Muonagor’s passing has further heightened the sense of grief and loss among fans and colleagues alike.

Despite tireless fundraising efforts for his medical treatment, Muonagor’s health continued to decline, leading to his unfortunate demise.

The news of his passing was shared by social commentator Otunba on Sunday, March 24th, 2024, through his X handle.

He wrote; “Sad news. Nollywood legend, Amaechi Muonagor is dead, may his soul rest in peace 🙏🏼🙏🏼.”

He was both an actor and a producer. In 2016, he earned a nomination for Best Actor in a comedy at the 2017 AMVCA awards.

After completing his youth service in 1989, Muonagor joined the News Agency of Nigeria. However, he departed from his job a few years later to pursue his passion for acting. His debut role was as Akunatakasi in the Nigerian movie “Taboo 1.”
