Nollywood actor and comedian Ayodeji Richard Makun, popularly known as AY Comedian, has expressed frustration over the lack of support from his colleagues.
A few days ago, AY released his highly anticipated film, The Waiter, featuring stars like Regina Daniels, Seyi Okanlawon, Toke Makinwa, and himself.
However, following the film’s reception and financial losses, the father of two took to the micro-blogging platform X to voice his disappointment.
AY criticized how men in the industry seem to prioritize supporting entities with “breasts and bottoms,” while hardworking individuals like him strive to stay relevant and uphold responsibilities.
Despite the challenges, AY took pride in being one of the few male filmmakers who hasn’t given up. He vowed to continue promoting his movie on his own terms.
“One day man go tell man “wetin man do man”. We work so hard to stay relevant and take care of our responsibilities. Must we have breast and yansh to have the support of our fellow men?
I am still the only man left in the business of filmmaking who is yet to give it all up. THE WAITER is a beautiful movie. I will continue to PERSONALLY push it with my full chest in cinemas nationwide. I am too legit to quit.”
