Renowned Nigerian Yoruba actress Bose Akinola recently shed light on the discord that erupted between her and her colleague, Rukayat Lawal, popularly known as Iya Ibadan Sneh, during a movie production.
Bose Akinola revealed the behind-the-scenes details of her dramatic clash with her longtime friend and coworker, Iya Ibadan Sneh, during a recent shoot.
Tensions flared a few months ago when Iya Ibadan Sneh publicly criticized Bose, accusing her of underpaying for her work on set.
Now that Bose has opened up about the contentious exchange in an open interview, it is clear that things became very heated between them.
Earlier this year, Iya Ibadan shared a video on Instagram showing her and Bose in an argument about Bose’s alleged failure to pay her for her role in Bose’s movie.
Iya Ibadan claimed Bose only paid her N500 out of the N500,000 owed, and she even provided a receipt of the payment.
The video captured their heated exchange, with Bose refusing to pay the full amount and Iya Ibadan refusing to continue filming until she received her full payment.
During a recent interview on Success 105.3 FM in Ibadan, Bose revealed that the altercation depicted in the viral video was not just playful banter but a serious disagreement that nearly ruptured their friendship.
Bose disclosed that Iya Ibadan demanded a fee of 500k to collaborate with her on set, a sum Bose deemed excessive, especially considering their friendship. She emphasized the tradition in the Yoruba movie industry where stars support each other without exorbitant charges.
According to Bose, Iya Ibadan requested her to send “5” in a text message, implying 500k. However, Bose humorously complied with the literal interpretation and sent 500 naira, as per the instruction, which she saw as following her friend’s request.
Bose Akinola recounted that Iya Ibadan arrived on set, visibly upset and confronting her about the perceived unfair payment. However, Bose assured that they have since reconciled and are on good terms again.
