Nollywood actress and producer Jaiye Kuti, also recognized as Jayeola Monje, has expressed her appreciation for her senior colleague, Funke Akindele, for openly endorsing her work.

On her Instagram page, Funke demonstrated her support for Jayeola by promoting her latest movie, “Alagbede.” The renowned actress revealed her intention to watch the movie at the cinema and invited her fans to join her. Congratulating Jayeola, Funke asserted that the movie was already a hit at the box office.

Funke Akindele is currently the Queen of Box office movies in Africa. Her last work, A Tr!be Called Judah, premiered in cinemas in December 2023 and broke a box office record within 21 days of its release. This made it the first Nollywood film to gross N1bn.

The movie’s success surpassed the actress’ previous films Battle on Buka Street (N668.4m) and Omo Ghetto (N636.1m), which currently sit as the second and third highest-grossing films at the Nigerian box office, respectively.

Her groundbreaking achievement made her the recipient of a brand-new car at her event.

Last month, she received the Silverbird Lifetime Achievement Award, which she dedicated to her fans and loved ones.
