“You’ve disrespected me, my religion and everything that I represent” – Muslim lady calls out Nancy Isime for using Niqob as a costume in an upcoming movie (Video)

Adiba Hayah, a Muslim woman on TikTok, has criticized Nollywood actress Nancy Isime for allegedly appropriating the niqab for a film project.

Nancy had advertised her next assignment on her Instagram profile two days prior. The talented actress was seen wielding a gun and donning a niqab in some of the pictures she shared on social media. In another picture, she was seen with her co-actors, one of whom was dressed in a hijab for a robbery scene.

A Muslim woman took to TikTok to express her displeasure with Nollywood actress Nancy Isime for allegedly appropriating the niqab for a film project.

She criticized Nancy for disrespecting her religion and everything it represents, emphasizing that the niqab is not a costume and should not be used to promote negative stereotypes. The woman pointed out that Muslims already face numerous challenges, including hardship and tribal issues, and do not need religious conflict added to their burdens.

She stressed that the niqab is more than just clothing; it embodies the character and values of righteous women. She expressed frustration with people who, without sharing the same values, misuse religious attire for their selfish interests. She accused Nancy and her colleagues of defaming and belittling the character of Muslim women worldwide, questioning when this behavior would end.

I guess there is a new movie coming out; either it is produced by Nancy or her team, or she is featured in the movie. I am sorry if I didn’t pronounce your name well; I don’t mean to be disrespectful. However, you’ve disrespected me, my religion and everything that I represent.

Niqob is not a costume; you do not use it to represent things that are unspeakable in society. There are other things you could use, but you chose to use the niqab. Before you come under this comment section to start throwing tantrums and telling me how it is no business of mine to make a review about this, you should see this. My issue with the use of hijab and niqab in what looks like a robbery scene that makes no sense. Hijab is not a costume; it shouldn’t be used for such. We are going through a lot already in Nigeria; there is too much hardship, and there are too many tribal problems in Nigeria. Why would you want to introduce religious war? Why can’t you maintain boundaries instead of consistently trying to disrespect people’s faith just because you want to promote what brings food to your table? There are many alternative face covering that could be used in this scene instead of the niqab and the hijab. This is not another costume or fashion attire; it is an identity, a symbol of modesty, and a representation of somebody’s faith. The niqab is not just clothing; it is a lifetime of religious commitment, representing character and an embodiment of a righteous woman.

I am sick and tired of constantly seeing people who do not share the same values as we do use this outfit for their selfish interest in a despicable way for their selfish interest to promote immorality and a bad image for Muslims and those who adorn themselves with it.

You people have chosen to defame, diminish and belittle the entire character of Muslim women all over the world for a costume that can be improvised. When is this going to stop?”.
