In a recent interview, renowned Nigerian skitmaker Yemi Elesho sheds light on his current relationship with singer Asake, whom he has been friends with since their university days.
As a guest on the audiovisual podcast “Echoo Room,” hosted by Quincy Jonze, Yemi Elesho revealed that Asake faced significant challenges during their time at the Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU).
The Instagram comedian shared that he and Asake endured hardships as squatters throughout their university years and even after graduating.
He recollected that Asake stayed with him for a while when they both returned to Lagos after completing their degrees at OAU.
Speaking of their present relationship during the interview, Yemi Elesho said that Asake is now a bigger person compared to him and some of his friends who they both went to OAU together.
Yemi Elesho further remarked that many of Asake’s friends have expressed frustration over his lack of response to their messages. However, from Yemi’s perspective, he views this as a natural progression.
The comedian emphasized that Asake has ascended to the status of a prominent artist, and it’s inevitable that he can’t maintain close ties with everyone from his past. Yemi pointed out that Asake now interacts with influential individuals regularly, which alters his social circle.
According to Yemi, he empathizes with Asake’s position, admitting that if he were in Asake’s shoes, he would likely prioritize his new connections as well.
Yemi acknowledged that his own status has evolved to a higher level, but he doesn’t harbor any ill feelings towards Asake for not responding to messages, understanding that Asake’s sphere of influence has expanded significantly.
He urged Asake’s friends from school days to forget about their sense of entitlement as they should hustle harder so as to also meet Asake at the top.
