On Saturday afternoon at Old Trafford, Manchester United defeated Luton Town 1-0 in the Premier League in a decisive comeback.
In an attempt to bounce back from their midweek loss to Copenhagen in the UEFA Champions League, Erik ten Hag’s team dominated the first 15 minutes with an amazing 85% of the possession. United had trouble scoring in the first half, even though they created many chances to score, one of which was thwarted by Rasmus Højlund.
Before the halftime siren, Luton put André Onana to the test as they were starting to regain their footing. Just before halftime, Alejandro Garnacho squandered a great chance, adding insult to injury for United. Similar to the first half, United controlled possession in the second half but lacked a finishing touch.
Victor Lindelöf’s goal, which came after a cross from Marcus Rashford, beat Thomas Kaminski in the 59th minute to give Luton the lead. United played with more freedom after the pressure was released, and if Kaminski hadn’t made an incredible save on Scott McTominay’s header, they would have nearly doubled their lead.
Manchester United got the much-needed respite before the international break by winning three points with a single goal.
On another note, Arsenal continued their impressive home record against newly-promoted teams in the Premier League, notching their 38th consecutive victory with a 3-1 win over Burnley, coinciding with their 1000th goal at the Emirates Stadium.
Although Burnley started brightly, testing David Raya early on, Arsenal, lacking a clinical striker, turned to Bukayo Saka for inspiration. Saka’s effort was brilliantly tipped onto the bar by James Trafford.
Burnley had a clear chance with Jóhann Berg Guðmundsson, but Raya made a crucial save. However, just before halftime, Burnley’s defensive vulnerabilities surfaced. Oleksandr Zinchenko’s delivery, kept alive by Saka, set up Leandro Trossard’s header.
Despite a lackluster first half for Arsenal, Burnley’s Josh Brownhill deflected in a goal to momentarily silence the Emirates. Nevertheless, defensive lapses haunted Burnley again as Victor Saliba and Zinchenko secured Arsenal’s lead.

Even with Fábio Vieira’s late dismissal, Arsenal comfortably secured three points, leveling them with Manchester City at the Premier League summit.
