Manchester City’s Erling Haaland has etched another milestone in his illustrious career by becoming the first player in the club’s history to score five goals in two separate matches.
In a commanding 6-2 victory over Luton Town during the fifth round of the FA Cup on Tuesday, the 23-year-old sensation showcased his brilliance by securing a remarkable hat-trick within the first 40 minutes of play, adding two more goals in the second half.
The maestro behind Haaland’s extraordinary feat was Kevin De Bruyne, who provided assists for four out of the five goals, while Bernardo Silva orchestrated the fifth.
Haaland’s exceptional performance not only solidified his place in City’s history books but also marked him as the first City player to achieve such a milestone in an FA Cup fixture since 1926, and the first top-flight player to do so in the tournament since George Best in 1970.
Adding to City’s dominant display, Mateo Kovacic found the net for the sixth goal in the 72nd minute, extending Pep Guardiola’s side’s unbeaten streak to an impressive 18 matches.
