Martin Odegaard Makes History, Becomes First Midfielder to Record Double-Digit Through Passes in 2024

In the bustling landscape of the English Premier League (EPL), boasting numerous renowned midfielders, Arsenal’s Martin Ødegaard has emerged as the first player to achieve double-digit through passes since the onset of 2024, as reported by Fbref.

Norwegian attacking midfielder Martin Ødegaard has been lauded for his 11 through balls in the English Premier League this year. His remarkable performance began on January 20 against Crystal Palace, where he orchestrated three chances during Arsenal’s commanding 5-0 victory.

Continuing his stellar form, Ødegaard delivered two more through passes in Arsenal’s clash with Nottingham Forest, outshining the competition by far. This feat was matched by Gabriel Jesus, who managed only one through pass in the same game, while Ødegaard also created the most chances.

The Arsenal captain maintained his momentum by notching two through balls in each of his next three Premiership encounters against Liverpool, West Ham, and Burnley. Impressively, he contributed to two goals in both the Liverpool and West Ham games.

In February, Ødegaard added another through pass against Newcastle before delivering one more in Arsenal’s match against Sheffield United. However, he faces stiff competition from Youri Tielemans of Aston Villa, who has made nine through balls in the EPL. Trailing closely behind are Cole Palmer of Chelsea and Bruno Guimarães of Newcastle, each credited with eight such passes this year.
