‘I should’m have won more titles at Manchester United’ – Mikel Obi

According to beIN Sports, former Chelsea midfielder John Obi Mikel has asserted that he believes he would have secured more Premier League titles had he joined Manchester United.

Mikel revealed details of his failed transfer to United, stating that he met with Sir Alex Ferguson and the Football Association but declined the offer.

Despite Ferguson’s anticipation of Mikel’s arrival, he chose to sign with Jose Mourinho at Stamford Bridge. Chelsea eventually settled with United for £12 million to complete the deal.

Reflecting on his decision, the former Super Eagles captain told beIN SPORTS: “I should have won more Premier League titles (if I moved to Man United), but I have four FA Cup titles. “I’d have been the first Nigerian player to play for United but I had an amazing 11 years at Chelsea. Fantastic time. It became my home. “The players, the friends, people at the club, they all became family. We won a lot, had an amazing time. More highs than lows. A brilliant time that I will never ever forget.”
